At our stated meeting on October 10, 2013 the By-Laws Committee submitted several recommended changes to the Lodge By-Laws to the Worshipful Master and provided a summary of the recommended changes to those members present. As such, these proposed changes must lay-over until the November 14, 2013 stated meeting to allow notification of resident Lodge members; I am notifying all members in the event you may be in the area. On November 14, 2013 we will vote on each recommended change individually so your attendance at this meeting is requested. For members with an email address that desire to review these changes beforehand, I will forward the recommended changes to you. For those without email – I will post the changes to the Lodge Bulletin Board.
I am in receipt of the 2014 Dues Cards and included within this Trestle Board you will find your Dues notice. The deadline for 2014 dues is December 31, 2013. I will be available at the November 2, 2013 and December 7, 2013 monthly Lodge breakfasts to issue Dues cards, as well as most Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 pm – 7:30 pm; unless there is a degree that night in which case I will be there longer. I will also meet you at the Lodge if you coordinate a time with me that is conducive to both of our schedules. The easiest way to send in your dues is to simply mail them directly to the Lodge at the address provided in your Dues notice. I will mail you a receipt and your Dues Card upon receipt of payment. If you have already paid – then please disregard the enclosed notice. 50 Year members and life members do not pay annual dues and your Dues Cards have already been mailed to you so please contact me if you have not received it.
At the November and December breakfast we will be accepting donated can-goods and box-goods (in lieu of the normal $5 basket donation) for placement into our Thanksgiving and Christmas Food Baskets. Of course, monetary donations will still be accepted. Last year we had a very successful Food Basket Program and look forward to having a successful year this year as well. We are always in need of volunteers to deliver the baskets, so if your schedule permits – we could sure use your help. Delivery (from the Lodge) is scheduled for November 21st (Thanksgiving Baskets) and December 19th (Christmas Baskets). (See enclosed calendars) Please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you wish to volunteer and I will see that your name is submitted to the Charity Committee Chairman (Bro. D.E. Crawford, PM). You may also contact him directly.
On November 2, 2013 at 8:00 am (immediately following our monthly breakfast) our last community roadside cleanup project (Memorial Drive Publix to Richview Road) for the year is scheduled in conjunction with Lodge No. 89. If your schedule permits, we could use a hand as with a good crowd it normally takes less than an hour. Necessary equipment is provided and waivers are available (new participants only) from our Lodge website at www.queencitylodge.org or you may see the Secretary at the Lodge breakfast before departing. Minor children are allowed to participate and we have a waiver form for them as well. All participants will depart from the Lodge. I will be glad to provide a Volunteer Letter to students/scouts for their help.
Our 2014 Officer elections will be held at our December 12, 2013 stated meeting and an Open-Installation is scheduled for December 15, 2013 at 2:00 pm (so bring your family members). Refreshments will immediately follow. I hope that your schedule will permit your attendance.
On December 14, 2013 from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm the Annual Christmas Party will be held. This year, in addition to Santa presenting gifts to children 12 and under, lots of food and games, there will be a magician in attendance to occupy the children and adults alike. A sign-up sheet is available on the Lodge bulletin board. Please contact Barbara Logan (OES Secretary) for additional details or information at 931-552-0526.
We could also use a hand to help decorate the Lodge on November 22, 2013 at 6:00pm. If you are interested – simply stop by.
Do not forget that each 3rd Thursday we have Open Education Discussion in the Lodge Library beginning at 7:00 pm. Bring whatever topic you would like to discuss and bring another Brother along! This is a very informal yet informative gathering.
