Education Discussion – 05/17/2012

What follows is a summary of the discussion from the Open Masonic Education Discussion held May 17, 2012.

W. Bro. McIntosh led the discussion, starting with Knowledge as an overlying principle in all three degrees.  He explained that it is illustrated in the 2nd degree.
With regards to Masonic Research, he advised to keep searching and not to get frustrated when you think you’ve hit a dead end.  When presenting your research, try to communicate your idea so others will understand, but keep yourself comfortable.  For example, vocabulary: if you feel most comfortable using a certain level of vocabulary to communicate your research and ideas, use it.  Don’t dumb yourself down. The Royal Arch degree was explained as not the same as the Royal Arch degree of the York Rite.  He cited the 1816 Lodge of Reconciliation in England as a source for what Freemasonry consists of.
